Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Data Analyst to join our team at a growing financial services firm. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, interpreting, and analysing financial and operational data to provide insights that support decision-making and business growth. You will work closely with the bookkeeping and compliance teams to identify trends, assess risks, and highlight opportunities that improve efficiency and client service. The role will involve developing reports and dashboards, ensuring data accuracy, and presenting findings in a clear and accessible way to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, or Power BI, and the ability to turn complex data into actionable insights. Key Responsibilities

Data collection and processing:

Collect, clean, and validate large financial and operational datasets from various internal and external sources, ensuring accuracy and integrity. 

Data analysis and modeling:

Perform statistical and quantitative analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in financial data. Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, and planning. 

Reporting and visualization:

Create comprehensive reports, dashboards, and visualizations using tools like Tableau or Power BI to communicate key insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

Performance monitoring:

Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics to monitor business performance and support ongoing strategy evaluation. 

Process improvement:

Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and optimize data collection and analysis processes by automating data workflows and improving data quality. 

Stakeholder collaboration:

Work with finance, accounting, risk, and other business units to understand their data requirements and provide analytical support for their initiatives. 

Problem-solving:

Investigate and diagnose data issues, unusual behavior, or inconsistencies in reporting to find root causes and propose solutions. 

Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Computer Science is typically required. 
  • Experience: Relevant experience in data or financial analysis is desired. 
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Excel is required. Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI is also valuable, and knowledge of programming languages like Python or R can be a plus. 
  • Analytical skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential.
  • Soft skills: Effective communication and the ability to work well in a team environment are important. A proactive approach to learning is also beneficial.
